The Leongstar Group of Companies (i.e. Leongstar Creative together with its parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, related and associated companies), including our nominees and third party franchisees (collectively referred to as “Leongstar”), respects and is committed to the protection of your personal data and your privacy. This Personal Data Protection Notice explains how we collect and handle your personal data. Please note that Leongstar may amend this Personal Data Protection Notice at any time without prior notice.

Please be informed that your personal data may be disclosed, disseminated and/or transferred to companies within Leongstar for the purpose of fulfilling our obligation to you in respect of the Purposes and all such other purposes that are related to the Purposes and also in maintaining and storing records.

It is your obligation to ensure that all personal data submitted to and retained by Leongstar are accurate, not misleading, updated and complete in all aspects. For the avoidance of doubt, we and/or the Group and/or its employees or authorized officers or agents will not be responsible for any personal data submitted by you to us that is inaccurate, misleading, incomplete and not updated. For the avoidance of doubt, the term “employee” herein includes reference to all permanent staff, contractual staff, interns, attachment students, trainees and volunteers.

Personal data means any information which relates to you and which was collected or provided to Leongstar for the purposes stated in Section 2 below.

1.2 Source of personal data

Leongstar collects your personal data directly from you or indirectly from referrals when you and/or your referees register your interest with us via various means, including through emails online, physical letters, by completing the relevant registration form or through information obtained via the internet. Your personal data may also be collected from cookies through the use of our website.

1.3 Obligatory personal data

All information requested for in the relevant forms is obligatory to be provided by you unless stated otherwise.
Should you fail to provide the obligatory information, we may be unable to process your request and / or provide you with relevant services.

(2) Purposes of collecting and further processing (including disclosing) your personal data

Your personal data is collected and further processed by Leongstar as required or permitted by law and for various academic, educational and administrative purposes, including the following:

  • to process your application for admission and thereafter to ensure continuous provision of services to you;
  • to facilitate your participation in any contests or events (including field trips);
  • to administer and communicate with you in relation to our services and/or events;
  • to resolve disputes within our assess action which may be taken in respect of internal investigations, audit or for security purposes;
  • to conduct internal marketing analysis and analysis of consumer pattern and choice;
  • to comply with Leongstar’s legal and regulatory obligations in the conduct of its business;
  • to contact you regarding products, services, upcoming events, promotions, advertising, marketing and commercial materials which we feel may interest you*;
  • To ensure that the content from our website is presented in the most effective manner for you and for your computer and/or device; and for Leongstar’s internal records management.
  • Third parties appointed by us to provide services to us or on our behalf (such as auditors, lawyers, company secretaries, printing companies, telecommunications companies, contractors, conference / training / event organisers, other advisers, travel agencies, recruitment agencies and insurance companies).
  • Relevant government departments / agencies, statutory authorities and industry regulators; to conduct internal marketing analysis and analysis of consumer pattern and choice; to comply with Leongstar’s legal and regulatory obligations in the conduct of its business;
  • for Leongstar’s internal records management.

Where you have indicated your consent to receiving marketing or promotional updates from Leongstar, you may opt-out from receiving such marketing or promotional material at any time. You may select the “unsubscribe” option provided in Leongstar’s email blasts / SMS blasts or you may contact Leongstar at the details provided in Section (6) below.

(3) Disclosures and transfers of personal data (within or outside of Malaysia)

3.1 Entities within Leongstar
Your personal data provided to us may be processed by entities (within or outside of Malaysia) within Leongstar (including related companies, subsidiaries, holding companies, associated companies, outsourcing partners, nominees and our third party franchisees).

3.2 Classes of third parties
Your personal data may be disclosed or transferred to relevant third parties (within or outside of Malaysia) as required under law, pursuant to relevant contractual relationship (for example, where we appoint third party service providers) or for the purposes stated in Section (2) above (or directly related to those purposes).

In the event of a potential, proposed or actual sale of business, disposal, acquisition, merger or re-organisation (“Transaction”), your personal data may be required to be disclosed or transferred to a third party as a result of the Transaction. You hereby acknowledge that such disclosure and transfer may occur and permit Leongstar to release your personal data to the other party and its advisers / representatives.

4.1 Links to other sites
Content in Leongstar’ website and the websites of our nominees (including www.beamindinternational.com/, etc.) (collectively, the “Websites”) may include links to third party websites. Leongstar is not responsible for the content on such linked third party websites and users should observe the separate privacy policies applicable to the respective third parties website.

4.2 Cookies
Leongstar may collect information about your visits to the Websites without you actively submitting such information. Unidentifiable information may be collected using various technologies, such as cookies, and web beacons. Cookies are small text files that are transferred to your computer’s hard disk by a website. Web beacons (also referred to as GIF files, pixels or Internet tags) help Leongstar recognise a unique cookie on your browser. Your internet browser automatically transmits to Leongstar some of this unidentifiable information, such as the URL of the web site you just visited and the browser version your computer is operating.

Passive information collection technologies can make your use of the Websites easier by allowing Leongstar to provide better service, customise the Websites based on consumer preferences, compile statistics, analyse trends, and otherwise administer and improve the Websites. Certain features of the Websites may not work without use of passive information collection technologies. Information collected by these technologies cannot be used to identify you without additional identifiable information and Leongstar will not collect additional identifiable information with information collected through the use of such tracking technologies.

You have the right to access and correct your personal data held by us (subject always to certain exceptions).
